JSON-FG in practice

Recently, OGC Features and Geometries JSON (JSON-FG) was adopted. JSON-FG builds on GeoJSON but offers additional functionality.

GeoJSON is a popular format, but it has a number of limitations. For example, GeoJSON formally only supports WGS84 latitudes and longitudes, no 3D and Time as a dimension and only geometry with simple features. The new standard JSON-FG tackles these limitations.

Join the test!

In June we organised an introduction to JSON-FG. In September we are organising a follow up meeting. To join this meeting we invite you to put JSON-FG to the test and share your experiences with us.

We want to learn:

  • What effort it takes to adopt JSON-FG
  • What are obstacles? What works and what doesn't?
  • What do software-engineers need to read and execute JSON-FG
  • Does JSON-FG meet our needs?

Who can participate?

Anyone who wants to do the test can participate in this meeting.
In order to offer as many different organisations as possible room to share results and learn from each other, a maximum of 2 people working for the same organisation can participate in the meeting at Geonovum in Amersfoort on September 29. If more than two people from the same organisation are registered, we will contact you.

Missed the introduction to JSON-FG in June?

If you missed the session in June but do want to test and take part in the September meeting, please check the following to catch up:
